The pianist, composer, educator, and researcher Luciana Hamond releases the album Piano Catarse, an original solo piano work featuring nine compositions in a neoclassical language, marked by simplicity, repetition, lyricism, and an intimate, expressive writing style.

The works that make up Piano Catarse were born from improvisations created in 2020, during the period of social isolation caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Initially conceived as a kind of musical diary, these improvisations were later revisited, transcribed, developed, and recorded by Luciana in her home studio, as part of a process of artistic and emotional elaboration.

The album features the tracks: Uncertainty, Eclipse,  Paths,  Enlightened Night,  A Bird’s Dream, Calm Waters, Steps Towards Infinity, Palpitations, and Sliding. Each piece carries traces of an intensely lived time, while also pointing toward paths of listening, reconstruction, sensitivity, and transformation.

More than presenting solo piano compositions, Piano Catarse offers an experience of sensitive and inward listening. Music emerges not only as an aesthetic form, but also as a way of giving shape to what has been lived, felt, and experienced. Throughout this journey, the piano becomes a space of memory, intimacy, emotional elaboration, and strengthening.
