Ricardo Herrera is a mexican self-taught pianist, percussionist, composer and arranger, graphic design enthusiast and music lover, born –and currently living– in Morelia, Michoacan, México. Learnt to play keyboard since age 8 and piano at age 15, yet started to compose at age 20 and published his first album till age 24.
His compositions are mainly inside the instrumental, acoustic, ‘solo piano’ and classical-contemporary genres, although he also explores into New Age and Smooth-Jazz genres as well.
His first album “One Letter” was published in year 2017, inspired mostly by the city of Morelia, and his second album “Domino” in year 2018; both recorded at Labyrinth Studio, premiered live at the Nicholaitian Auditorium and published as independent projects. Recently he composed and published his very first suite as his third album, with seven movements, under the title of “Albatross”.
His main influences in composition are Peter Kater, Yiruma, Ludovico Einaudi, David Lanz, David Benoit, Russell Freeman, Efren Capiz, Ben Cosgrove, Emma Johns, Christine Brown, Yanni Chrysomallis, Andreas Vollenweider, Zbigniew Preisner, John Barry Slimp, John Williams, John Burke, Kyle Landry and Olafur Arnalds.
