Many musicians are drawn to producing a Christmas album.

This one has been over five years in the making. If I was going to do a festive album, especially based around 12 traditional songs, then I wanted it to be special! So I’ve been working on arrangements that offer something different rather than repeating something that had already been done many times before.

The title is, of course, a line from the version of the carol Good King Wenceslas that was written in the 19th century by Mason Neale, who was the warden to Sackville College - an alms house for the poor of East Grinstead, West Sussex in the UK.
East Grinstead is a special place for me. I lived there, and nearby, for many years, and have wonderful memories of the place and the people I met there.
