Amy Skjei(pronounced Shay), Is a classical trained pianist who was born and raised in Central MN. She started studying piano at the age of 6 by Dru Ann Faith. She then went on to study under Dr. Paul Wirth at the Wirth Center of Performing Arts. Amy had won several state piano competitions and performed on many occasions, for the MMTA Honors Conert, at Northrup Auditorium, at the University of Minnesota. She also was involved with Schubert Club. After high school, Amy went on to study under Dr. David Worth, at Concordia College, Moorhead, MN, where she was also awarded a piano performance scholorship after performing Chopin’s Scherzo in B Flat Minor, a piece she first learned when she was 15 and also performed at one of her state piano competitions that she also won. Amy also received her BA in Nursing from Concordia College and currently works full time as an RN. Amy is married with two daughters ages 8 and 10. Autumn, who is 8, has Down’s Syndrome and Autistic Spectrum Disorder and her needs are very demanding, but continues to grow and learn and touch people’s lives. Amy is working on a Christmas CD as time allows and plans to release more original work in the future. Amy also continues to play music from the classical and romantic periods that she loves, such as Chopin, Beethoven, Brahms and Rachmaninoff.
