Alex was born in Atlanta, Georgia. His music is heavily influenced by his many years of performing works of composers like Frédéric Chopin, Claude Debussy, and Sergei Rachmaninoff. While many classical composers will write for many different ensembles and instrumentation, Alex is 100% committed to writing only for the piano. He believes that one of the reasons Frédéric Chopin is one of the most beloved composers 150+ years after his death is Chopin stuck to the instrument he loved in every single work (even orchestral and chamber works featured piano). While Alex has not written a piano concerto yet, his EP “In the Woods” released in 2019 sonically explores a variety of ways of presenting the piano to listeners, ranging from electronic techniques in the track “Moving On”, recording techniques like overdubbing in “Afternoon”, to free improvisation in “Improvisation on a Thousand Stars”.

Beginning in 2018, Alex began the shift from performing the classical repertoire to composing and recording his own works. He believes the future of classical music is dependent on the next generation of classical pianist-interpreters making the same leap. During his period of training he won many regional piano competitions and scholarships in the state of Georgia. He performed Saint-Saens Piano Concerto No. 2 with the Dekalb Symphony Orchestra in 2012.
