Debating on the selection of Christmas songs in the middle of the New Orleans summer heat and humidity is one of the many undertakings for this project. There were several problems in presenting this collection of 12 Christmas songs ranging from the 15th to the 19th century and two original holiday compositions. From the early disappearance of the pianos to the trying to decide which versions of several of the songs, this project has been a labor of love.
As with all my previous recordings, these recordings are presented without the aid of sequencing or layering or any real editing. In this way, the spirit of the moment has been captured and preserved. The three tracks that have a different orchestration than solo piano were performed on a Kurzweil PC2x keyboard and were recorded with techniques consistent with all the acoustic piano selections.
